Harry jolted up in bed as his green alarm clock rang shrilly. He rubbed a fist over his sleepy eyes before taking a swat is his clock. It tipped off the table and smashed on the stone floor. Harry groaned at the sound, covering his ears. It did not help his hangover at all. There had been a big victory party last night in the Gryffindor commons after a long Quidditch battle between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Obviously Gryffindor had won. Harry swung his legs over his bed and bent over to pick of the remnants of the clock, glancing at the hands as he picked it up.
'10:35!?!?! Shoot, I'm really late for class today! Why didn't Ron wake me up!?!?!'
Harry shot out of bed and into the bathroom for a quick shower before his morning rituals. He finished minutes later and grabbed his bag and robe before dashing out of the dorms and into the halls.
'Judging by the time on the clock, it should be about 10:50 a.m. right now. Damn! I'm late for Double Potions! Snape is going to give me a week of detention.'
Harry groaned at the thought of having to spend the cold winter nights down in the dungeons cleaning or whatever other horrible punishment Snape thought up. His steps sped up as he rounded a cornet and ran towards the dungeons.
He made it to the classroom and banged open the doors, forgetting the consequences for being noisy.
“Sorry Professor, I just woke up and realised--” Harry stopped speaking in confusion as he noted that he didn't recognized a single face in the class.
“5 points from Gryffindor for interrupting my class. What are you doing here, Mister Potter?”
Snape had gotten up from his position behind his desk to sweep up to the classroom doors. He glared menacingly down at the boy.
“Uh, well, you see, I, um, just, erm, woke up a bi-”
“I want to know why you are interrupting my class, Potter. Not your stupid excuses,” Snape growled, causing nearby students to flinch.
“You do not have Double Potions on Wednesdays. Are did you forget and lose your way?”
Harry, having realized his mistake, blushed furiously. He hadn't checked what day of the week it was, and thinking it was Wednesday, he had come down to Double Potions, when it was actually Friday and he was supposed to be at Charms. He mentally swore.
“Sorry, Professor. I just woke up and thought it was Wednesday and I came down here. Sorry to bother you. I'll be leaving now then,” Harry started inching towards the door, not wanting to be in the potions classroom longer than necessary.
“Detention, Potter, for wasting precious class time. These 7th year Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs are making a complicated potion. I'm sure you've just caused a handfull of students to fail this assignment today by distracting them.”
Sure enough, a couple of students yelped as they noticed that their cauldrons were starting to bubble over. This new commotion caused a skittish Hufflepuff next to Harry to drop the powder he was carefully sprinkling into his cauldron. It exploded, soaking the Hufflepuff and Harry in a silver metallic liquid. They both immediately began coughing up the fluid, before collapsing onto the cold stone floor, their bodies twitching.
